How to setup a TV
anywhere
in your house

Ever wanted
to setup a TV
somewhere different
in your home,
but thought
it wasn't possible
because there's
no antenna point
handy?
Well this article
is for you...
TV positioning
is no longer
restricted by
whether you
have cables
or an antenna
running to the
location you
desire.
In the age of
wireless, you
can put your
TV(s) wherever
you desire -
in the kitchen,
kids room, dining
room, etc.
Transmitter/Receiver
kits are available
today which
transmit audio
& video from
a video source
(such as a DVD
player, Austar/Foxtel,
digital set-top
box, etc) to
your TV... even
TV channels
can be transmitted!
Wireless TV
Solution
The
first solution
we'll look at
is setting up
a TV wirelessly
- so you can
watch TV channels
without needing
a cable between
your antenna
point to your
TV. This
is achieved
by using a kit
called a
TV Anywhere
Kit
(TVA10).
This consists
of Transmitter
& Receiver Units
(operating at
2.4GHz) and
a Remote.
The Transmitter
Unit is connected
to your antenna
point (if you
already have
a TV plugged
into this antenna
point, simply
use an antenna
point double-adaptor).
The Receiver
Unit is connected
to the A/V input
of you TV (which
can be anywhere
in your home).
The setup instructions
explain how
to configure
the Transmitter
Unit to scan
for all analogue
TV channels
- these
channels are
then internally
stored.
Then, simply
set you TV to
its A/V input
and what ever
channel the
Transmitter
Unit is currently
set to will
be wirelessly
transmitted
and viewed on
your TV.
Simple!
To change channels,
do so using
the provided
remote.
The signal will
actually be
relayed from
the Receiver
Unit back to
the Transmitter
Unit, telling
it to change
to the desired
channel.
Your TV will
always remain
on the A/V input
channel.
You're now free
to move your
TV any time
and anywhere
you want, without
being restricted
by antenna cables.
Audio/Video
Solution
If
you use digital
TV (via a set-top
box), or want
to transmit
an alternative
A/V source -
such as your
Austar/Foxtel,
or maybe a video
on your PC,
then this can
be achieved
using a
Wireless Video
Sender Kit
(GV45).
This consists
of a Transmitter
Unit and a Receiver
Unit.
As with the
previous solution,
the Receiver
Unit is connected
to the A/V input
of your TV.
The Transmitter
in this kit,
however, is
connected to
the A/V output
of the equipment
you wish to
transmit.
It also comes
with an infra-red
cable that plugs
into the Transmitter
Unit - the cable
has little emitters
that sit in
front of your
equipment.
This way, you
can take your
equipment's
original remote
over to your
TV, and when
you perform
an action on
the remote (eg:
change Foxtel
channels), the
Receiver Unit
relays the signal
back to the
Transmitter
Unit, which
in turn uses
the infrared
emitters to
control your
equipment -
as if you were
in front of
the equipment.
Simple and effective!
So what are
you waiting
for?
Sit down
and pick the
places in your
home you'd like
to setup TVs.
Then get a hold
of a
TVA10
(for wireless
TV) or a
GV45
(for wireless
A/V) and add
some convenience
and comfort
to your home!
